New driver - which navigation?

Any advice on the best navigation app to use? Uber recommends using theirs.
If I decided to use my Apple navigation, does it link up with the Uber app? Or do I have to keep switching between apps? I can imagine this would be a pain which is why I'm asking for advice. I did my first ride today using the Uber navigation and it seemed painless enough...
